AFTER MORE THAN 35 YEARS OF MEMBERSHIP IN THE IAM
GRAND LODGE REPRESENTATIVE DON STELLA RETIRED AUGUST 1, 2001

FROM THE MIDWEST TERRITORY:

DON BEGAN HIS CAREER AT BENDIX IN KANSAS CITY, MO. IN 1963 WHERE HE BECAME A JOURNEYMAN MACHINISTS AND HELD SEVERAL POSITIONS AT THE LOCAL LODGE LEVEL IN IAM LODGE 314.

IN 1981, DON BECAME A BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVE FOR DISTRICT 71 IN KANSAS CITY, MO. SERVING IN THAT POSITION  UNTIL OCTOBER 1986. STELLA WAS APPOINTED SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE IN NOVEMBER 1986 ASSIGNED TO THE MIDWEST TERRITORY, ADVANCING TO GRAND LODGE REPRESENTATIVE AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT.

TO HONOR DON AND HIS WIFE SHARON, THE MIDWEST TERRITORY OFFICE AND FIELD STAFF HELD A SPECIAL DINNER IN CHICAGO BEFORE HIS RETIREMENT DATE.

WHEN ASKED WHAT HE WOULD DO IN HIS RETIREMENT, DON REPLIED, "ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO VISIT ME SHOULD PROBABLY LOOK IN THE GRANDSTAND, SECTION H, ROW Y, SEAT 14 AT ARLINGTON PARK RACE TRACK." DON LOVES HORSE RACING AND SPENDS MUCH OF HIS FREE TIME AT THE TRACK FOLLOWING HIS FAVORITE SPORT.

TO DON AND SHARON, WE WISH THEM GOOD LUCK, GOOD HEALTH, AND LOTS OF PLEASURE IN THEIR RETIREMENT.

THE FEW TIMES I GOT TO WORK WITH YOU ARE TIMES THAT I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER. I'LL REPEAT WHAT THE MIDWEST TERRITORY SAID, "GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HEALTH" TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN YOUR RETIREMENT. YOUR SHOES WILL BE HARD TO FILL.
