Unions Make a Difference
Union workers of all ages receive better wages and benefits. Union membership also offers the best guarantee for America's workers that they will have sufficient income when they retire. In the United States, almost four of every five union workers are covered under pension plans, compared with less than half of nonunion workers. Many union-negotiated plans include a defined benefit, which ensures workers a specific amount of money each month. Union contracts also give workers a voice in the management of their retirement accounts through union-management trusteeships.
