The campaign by Bush administration officials to eliminate union rights for

federal workers is only the beginning. Every union member in the U.S. represents

a target for the anti-worker zealots looking to silence the voice of the

American Labor Movement.

Don’t think so? Since taking office, Bush administration officials have unilaterally

revoked union representation rights for tens of thousands of federal

employees in the Justice Department, the Department of Homeland Security

and the Department of Defense.

In every case, administration officials made the outrageous claim that union

membership was incompatible with ‘national security.’

As part of its war on federal workers, the administration is also proposing to

outsource many functions of government: including air traffic control, veteran’s

administration and forest and parks services. The move is certain to

initiate a bidding war for federal contracts and cost thousands of federal

workers their jobs.

The IAM is urging every member, active or retired, to log on to the IAM website

at www.goiam.org and click on the "Action Alerts and Advocacy" button.

Send a message demanding our representatives oppose plans to turn vital

government functions over to private contractors and eliminate union protections

for federal workers.

If the Bush administration is successful in radically transforming the federal

government workforce, they will undoubtedly intensify their efforts in the

private sector. Our solidarity as union members is being tested as never before.

Our jobs - all our jobs - are at stake.
