Blue Ribbon Online Survey

For the next 30 days, the IAM will conduct an online survey at www.goiam.org to give members an opportunity to provide input to the IAM’s policy-making Blue Ribbon Commission.

The Commission recently completed Town Hall meetings in 40 locations across North America where thousands of IAM members responded to three important questions:

· What is working well with our Union?
· What is not working well with our Union?
· What changes need to be made in our Union?

As in previous Blue Ribbon Commission meetings in 1995 and 1998, IAM members’ suggestions will guide policy changes, program development and reforms throughout our Union.

The open invitation to attend a meeting in person was the first step. Commission representatives were present at every meeting to record IAM members’ responses to the questions above.

The online survey is the next step; an additional means for members to speak up, ask questions and offer suggestions how the Machinists Union can stay relevant and responsive to the current concerns of its members.

Family life, politics, health care and the economy are all subjects that can be raised. Work related issues such as organizing, contract negotiations, membership training and education programs are also worthy topics.

The anonymous survey is brief and takes only minutes to complete. Start by clicking onto www.goiam.org and then follow the simple instructions. Your input will help set the tone and direction of the IAM for years to come.
